Featured: Woolly Worm Festival 2013
It’s show time. Yesterday morning we loaded up the vehicles, picked up the rented tent, and were set up at the Woolly Worm Festival by late afternoon.
Seems like such a silly theme for a festival but many many thousand people come as a yearly tradition to race those fuzzy little guys and shop for unique gifts.
The big yellow stand is where the worms race each other up a string. The winning worm predicts the winter weather and its “owner” gets something like $1000. Not bad for a day of fun.
Our rented tent popped up easily and it was fun to unroll my new banner (from www.stickersbanners.com in case you are in need of an inexpensive banner).
Our living room currently has no curtains as we pilfered them right off the windows. They now flank the banner and make the back wall of the tent nice and pretty.
A little greenery to hide all the wires.
Today was the first day of the festival and it went smashingly. It runs tomorrow from 9 am to 4 pm in case you are in the area.
It’s a beautiful time of year here in the high country of NC. I feel like I’m wearing rose-colored glasses because the fall leaves cast a gorgeous glow on everything. We couldn’t be having better weather for a festival. Just crisp enough for people to be in the scarf buying mood. :)
If you stop by, come say hi. I’d love to meet you!
