Pillow Covers benefiting Niger, Africa

Today, I have a special limited-edition product to share with you. The proceeds of which will help girls in one of the poorest countries in the world.

African Pillow Covers from Niger

Our friends live and work in humanitarian aid in Niamey, Niger. Niger is one of the five poorest countries in the world. While our friends meet the needs of poor residents, they have the opportunity of sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ to meet an even greater need.

Authentic African Print Pillows benefit Niger sewing school

When my friend told me of an opportunity to help a girls’ sewing school in Niamey, I was excited. This school teaches girls basic sewing skills so that they might have a way to bring a source of income to their families. Unfortunately, many of the girls have trouble paying the $7 fee to cover the school tuition. The school uses the small fee to buy fabric and sewing supplies so they are often tight on finances and materials. I’m also told the school could use more sewing machines. This is where we come in! I asked them to make some simple pillow covers with bright yellow band edging. The girls have sewn about 20 pillow covers and John brought them to me during his recent visit to the states.

I figure if you and I buy them for $14 per pillow cover, that will provide tuition for a number of girls, and possibly buy fabric or a sewing machine as well. I can’t wait to find the perfect spot for a couple in my home.

Seeing that Anthropologie alone has a ton of African and ethnic printed products, these pillow covers should fit right into today’s trends in home decor.

The pillow covers have an envelope style back so you slip your pillow insert right in. Sorry, I don’t have inserts available for sale but I found that a 17″ or 18″ insert fit great (both normal sizes). You might already have a pillow in that size so you wouldn’t even need to purchase an insert. Just give your current pillows a quick makeover!

The pillow covers come in 4 prints and are available in my shop until sold out. I hope you might join me in helping these girls in Niger by purchasing a pillow cover.

Warmly,
