Art Festival Booth Design

We are thick into preparing for the fall shows and I have moved on to the booth design for the Southern Christmas Show.

We called the show rep with a few questions a couple weeks ago. She said something to the effect of “I hate to spring this on you, but you’ve been given a prime location. New people generally don’t get those spots”. Eeeks. As if I wasn’t nervous enough! I received the exact space assignment last week and I’m excited to announce that I will be  “street vendor” within the Old Town Shoppes. That means I’ll be in the first grouping of craft vendors that you will come across when walking through the show. The diagram is a little hard to decipher. Basically there are three very large buildings. I’m in the first one called Liberty Hall.

When you walk through the entrance, you will weave through the Christmas tree displays and then a few Old Towne Shops. You will come upon a cluster of craft booths and I will be one of them. Here is a close-up (click to zoom):

I have so much product ready, so making sure my booth space looks stellar has moved to the top of my priority list.

Obviously, it is a simplified version (I’ll need to display more products than that) but I plan to keep the classy look as much as possible. I have a tendency to over-fill my booth design so I am really fighting that urge. We will hang more bags on the right and fill up the cubbies and bit more of the wall space, but this will be the overall look.

We will use what we’ve got for the most part. The table is a nice wood table my Dad made for me a couple years ago that happens to be the perfect length space. I have the tablecloth, the orange rug, the white IKEA curtains,  the three dress forms, the jute baskets, and a round mirror already. We also had one of the paper hanging lamps from IKEA so I picked up one more. That leaves us with a couple of items: some sort of shelving and photo signage. We splurged and picked up a really pretty shelf from Ikea. Funny how so much of my booth design happened to come from Ikea, but it really is the only store I know of that sells modern decor at a cheap price. The shelf is the Expedit which now comes in a really classy gloss gray. So much nicer in person than their website shows.

Everything is coming together! And that makes it much easier to be excited rather than anxious. I’m getting to the point of not being able to wait for show time.
I hope you might come to my booth if you are in the Charlotte-area November 14-24.
